"......So early in July 1911 we arrived to an empty shore, young and old working together to establish camp before sunset. Four tents were set up, and even the dining tent in time for the evening meal. Then Norman and I retired to our own tent exhausted..... The next thing I remember was the turmoil of wind, noise, voices calling, and Father’s hand to free me from the flapping canvas of a fallen tent. A sudden northwest wind had come up in the night, striking full force and reducing all our neat arrangements to chaos....."
